I bought this product about a year ago and I was just thinking this morning that I need to share my experience.
I love the price, and the features, I was looking for a device that had GPS as I just moved into a new city and didn't know my way around. I also liked being able to connect to my phone via Bluetooth for phone calls and listening to music.
Ordering was easy, the item came as advertised and what I tried worked fine (gps, bluetooth, radio, playing music from an sd card and the backup camera)
there were little problems that were basic OS issues that I notice but could overlook. for example, there was no way to turn off the blue screen when you put the car in reverse for the backup camera if you had no backup camera installed....so I ended up just buying a camera. the time didn't keep on the radio itself so I just looked at the time on the car's dashboard and ignored the clock on the radio. the gps, even though I had it set to not load the GPS on the car start....sometimes when you start the car it still loaded the GPS. small issues...but still issues and overall I was still happy...
3 months of ownership is when things went downhill. The volume knobs on the front of the device stopped working, then the touchscreen stopped working. At the same time the GPS software kept freezing in the middle of loading and sometimes wouldn't even try to load. I had a 1 year warranty so I figured Id contact autodvdgps. They went through a long process of me taking pictures and recording videos and trying different versions of the maps and recording more videos until after about a 2 week process, they told me to mail the unit back to them.
The entire process... troubleshooting, mailing it back to them (in china I must add) waiting for them to fix it and send it back ended up taking longer than I had thus far owned the unit. but I didn't care, If it fixed my item.
When I received the item, the touchscreen and the volume knobs was fixed, The gps still did not work, and the backup camera doesn't work, it just shows the blue screen now.
Since then Ive had more problems with it, the Bluetooth has gotten to be really problematic and the DVD player will just freeze in the middle of use with random DVDs. I believe my unit was just a defective unit and they should've just sent me a brand new unit instead of fixing the old unit.
Also, some of these problems could probably be solved with a firmware or OS upgrade...and although above they say that there is none, Im pretty sure that there has to be some form of fix or upgrade somewhere.
Would I buy from Autdvdgps again? YES
Would I recommend this particular item? NO
This item is heavy than I expected, so I almost slip it to my foot when I first take it up. Installation is not very complicated but time-killing.
Video screen is much better than the picture.
GPS loading and response are fast.
TV function not tested.
Bluetooth and iPod control are working normal.
This gadget is one of the steps of my old Chrysler refreshing plan. Due to no experience of installing, the process almost cost my whole afternoon. Now it has been working with my car over 1 month. I'm satisfied with it. Great and budget deal.
How can I upgrade the OS?
Can this work for Chrysler 300c 2007 model in Australia?
Where is the installation manual?
Ppl like you get all the brnais. I just get to say thanks for he answer.
