Should be this device be plug and play? Why would it when you put your car in reverse there is no picture to display of your camera? When the car goes into reverse the little white lights on the camera are lit, but there is no images?

The images you need, we don't have them at hand, as you know, these images can be only shown on your original car while using the back camera.
